Teguise City Council opens a period until October 5 so that residents and any private entity can define "how a percentage of the municipal budgets for 2024 is invested." In the words of the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, "this initiative stems from the government group's commitment to exercise open and participatory governance. In this new legislature we want to include some innovative management practices that are socially integrated."
In this way, residents of Teguise have the opportunity to make contributions and suggestions to the municipality's next annual accounts through a simple form that can be found at the following link.
"Citizens can choose between several lines of action that have been distributed by departments, but they also have a section to make contributions on how they want municipal resources to be invested," says Duque. Likewise, the first Deputy Mayor, Rita Hernández, has highlighted that this initiative "improves transparency in municipal spending and strengthens relations between the City Council and civil society, because we have a more concrete idea of where their true interests lie."
"All citizens count, because they all make up Teguise," adds the mayor, who understands that this initiative establishes "a relationship" between the idea of "being part of a town and taking part in it, through direct action, since our municipality is the result of the decisions that are made every day." For this reason, "I encourage citizens to actively participate in what is to come," concludes Duque.
