The National Police is incorporating the new VIDOC Mobile Documentation Unit (Vehículo Integral de Documentación) in Lanzarote, a resource designed to modernize and optimize the issuance of ID cards and passports in municipalities without a fixed documentation unit.
The VIDOC allows the entire document creation process to be carried out in a single visit, thanks to its integration of the same technical means as a fixed office, i.e., complete issuance workstations, biometric scanners, printing equipment, and a Document Update Point.
Thanks to this technology, citizens can obtain their DNI or Passport on the spot, without waiting and without needing to return another day.
Until now, in municipalities without a documentation office, the procedure required three phases in two trips: one for data collection and subsequent document creation at a police station, and another for delivery. With the implementation of VIDOC, this model is replaced by a more agile system that reduces time, increases service capacity, and improves the quality of public service
The unit can operate in population centers and in locations where extraordinary expeditions are authorized, ensuring accessibility to documentation throughout the island.
The seven municipalities on the island will soon benefit from this service, bringing the issuance of national identity cards and passports closer to areas where, until now, citizens had to travel several kilometers to complete these procedures.
The implementation of VIDOC will make it possible to improve territorial coverage and guarantee more efficient and accessible care throughout the island.
With this incorporation, the National Police advances in its commitment to modernize document management and facilitate citizen access to their official documents without the need for long journeys.
This initiative is one more step in the technological adaptation project devised by the Directorate General of Police, which is complemented by the launch of DNI Express, Document Update Points (PADS), and the MIDNI mobile application, which further facilitate document management.
