The president of the investigation commission on the Ginory plot, the Canarian Armando Santana, wanted to respond on Radio Lanzarote – Onda Cero to the complaint from Lanzarote en Pie in relation to the fact that it was “not being launched”. In this regard, Santana responds that he is not the one who makes the regulations, but that “it is the secretary who has to prepare the draft”.
“The councilors of Lanzarote en Pie know that the commission has been delayed because the regulations are made by the secretary, who, as they also know, has just landed at the City Council”, the councilor elaborates.
“There are people who have those ways of doing politics, of lying and deceiving and using controversy”, says the councilor, who explains that the secretary has already prepared “a draft” to be able to start the commission.
“It bothers and angers me, because they are two councilors who are paid from the public every month, and then they come out with a press release to look for their five minutes in an interview and deceive the population”, criticizes the president of the commission. In addition, he assures that Leticia Padila “is warned of the situation”, since he points out that he exchanges emails in which he informs “of how the times are going”.
“I would have liked the regulations to be ready sooner and we would have started with this important investigation commission, but it has not been like that”, adds Armando Santana, who also points out that he is surprised by “the ability” that Leticia Padilla has to “deceive listeners or the population in general”.
“Padilla may not be able to chair the Ginory commission either, because she was a member of the PSOE executive”
The councilors of Lanzarote en Pie also demanded the presidency of the Commission, since they assured that they were the only party "that has not had government responsibility throughout the Ginory case process”.
Lanzarote en Pie was referring to the time when Pedro de Armas was councilor for Urban Planning, who at that time ran in the elections with the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote, which was in coalition with Nueva Canarias.
“Nueva Canarias was founded in 2015, and Alejandro Díaz was the president and I was the organizing secretary”, explains Armando Santana, who adds that at that time he went in coalition with the PNL because NC in Lanzarote “did not exist”. “That's the reality, if someone wants to distort it, let them do it”, he asserts.
“It surprises me a lot that she wants to position herself as president or be part of it, because if she believes in democracy as I also believe, she has to know that I have been elected by all the political groups of that City Council, and I think there is nothing more to discuss. Even so, I am willing to sit down and talk to her”, says Armando Santana.
“Padilla may not be able to chair the Ginory commission either, because she was a member of the PSOE executive”, says Santana, recalling that the Lanzarote en Pie councilor was a member of the largest PSOE body on the Island.
“We have the opportunity to clarify things”
Armando Santana emphasizes that the intention of the investigation commission is “to clarify what has happened during all these years”. “It has been a real scandal, and we have the opportunity to clarify things”, adds the councilor.
“We owe an explanation to the citizens, and that they know why they have paid that amount of money from their taxes, in a portion not of land but of water”, asserts Armando Santana, referring to the conflict of how much the space of the land really is, since in the past a large part was covered by sea water.
“I'm from here, I'm not from France. I know the coast of my Arrecife and I know what I'm talking about. We have to focus, and when we have the regulations we will start working within the capacities or competences that we have”, says Armando Santana.
