The strong wind that blew this Monday in Lanzarote and the haze have forced three flights that were scheduled to land at the César Manrique airport to be diverted to Fuerteventura. These are planes from Newcastle, Stansted (Great Britain) and Bilbao, according to reports from Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (AENA).
This Tuesday the situation has improved at the airport and Aena says that the planes are operating normally.
According to AEMET, the airport station was registering gusts of up to 58 kilometers per hour this Monday.
Problems in maritime connections
Maritime connections from the island to both Fuerteventura and La Graciosa are also being affected this Tuesday, December 27.
The maritime transport company Líneas Romero has canceled all departures from Playa Blanca and Corralejo due to bad weather. For its part, Fred Olsen informs that they also have affectations in the Lanzarote - Fuerteventura connection. Passengers on the smaller boat that makes that journey, the 'Buganvilia Express', are being transferred to another larger ferry of the company, the 'Bocaina Express', "for comfort reasons".
In addition, the excursions that Líneas Romero makes with the 'Waterbus' and that connect Puerto del Carmen and Puerto Calero have been canceled.
As for the port of Órzola, passenger ferries are operating normally. However, the excursions to Isla Lobos and La Graciosa made by the company 'Biosfera Express' have been canceled for this Monday and Tuesday.
Few incidents for the Emergency Consortium
As for incidents on land, the Emergency Consortium has barely acted. Firefighters went to a house in the early hours of this Tuesday where there was a pergola that had suffered a break due to the wind in San Bartolomé.
The incident occurred at about 00.42 hours in Rubicón street in the town.
Once alerted by the CECOES, they went to the address and dismantled the pergola.
Local Police officers also went to the scene.
