This Tuesday, Vicente Lloret López, owner and managing director of the historic Lloret y Llinares canning and salting factory, passed away at the age of 80.
Lloret was a key figure in this industry, as his business became the largest production factory in Lanzarote, accounting for 70% of the island's economy between the 1950s and 1980s in Lanzarote.
Also, three years ago, the businessman received a commemorative plaque for the donation of the machinery that was in operation for 30 years and contributed to the economic take-off of the island before the massive arrival of tourism.
Specifically, he donated some engines and compressors in charge of starting the industrial activity to the Los Mármoles homeowners association, in a very emotional act that brought together family, workers and friends of Lloret.
The funeral chapel is installed in the Mémora Arrecife Funeral Home. The funeral mass will take place this Wednesday, 8th of June, at 12:00 hours in the Church of San Ginés.
