The Ministry of Health has updated this Thursday the levels of health alert, approving only changes on the island of Tenerife, which will drop from level 4 to level 3. As for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, they will remain at level 2, being the islands with the lowest level of alert. Gran Canaria remains at 4 and La Palma, Fuerteventura, El Hierro and La Gomera remain at level 3, now together with Tenerife

However, it should be remembered that since last week, the restrictions in force on each island no longer depend directly on the levels, since the Governing Council approved only two packages of measures. The first is the one that began to be applied on the two islands that were at level 4, and the other affected all the others, so in Lanzarote the same ones apply as on the islands that are at level 3.

The Ministry of Health highlights the improvement that has occurred in hospital pressure, especially in Tenerife, which is the one that drops in level, although it has coincided with an increase in the number of infections. "The evolution of the indicators will be closely observed in case the slightly upward evolution of the accumulated incidence at 7 days in the last week is maintained and impacts the healthcare capacity indicators," they point out.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, between February 15 and 21, 6,637 new cases of Covid-19 were reported, which represents an increase of 28.4% in the daily average of new cases in relation to the previous week. From a weekly average of 237.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, it went to 305 cases per 100,000 inhabitants this week. All the islands are at a very high risk level in this indicator, except Lanzarote, which remains at a high risk level.
