Lanzarote adds fourteen new positive cases of Covid in the last day

A total of 259 new cases of coronavirus and three deaths have been recorded in the Canary Islands.

Lanzarote has added fourteen Covid positives in the last day, according to the Ministry of Health, which however specifies that they are "provisional data". The number of accumulated cases on the island since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 1,595.

As for the Canary Islands as a whole, this Friday provisionally registers 259 new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus. The total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands is 27,333. In the last 24 hours, three deaths have been reported, two men in Tenerife and one in Gran Canaria, aged between 75 and 91 years. One of the deceased is associated with the outbreak in the Santa Rita residence.

By islands, Tenerife adds 158 cases, so the total number of accumulated cases amounts to 13,507; Gran Canaria has 73 new cases and 10,651 accumulated. Fuerteventura has 1,004 accumulated, since it adds 6 new cases in the last hours. For its part, La Palma adds four new cases, so the accumulated are 300. La Gomera does not add any case in the last 24 hours and its accumulated remain at 193, while El Hierro registers four new cases and 83 accumulated.

The Ministry of Health recalls that these data are provisional, since the Coordinating Center for Alerts and Emergencies does not receive epidemiological information from the Autonomous Communities on weekends and holidays, so there will be no communication of complete data or the Grafcan website will be updated these days, but these provisional data will be reviewed and consolidated according to the protocols. The daily update will be active again next Monday, January 4.

 

Outbreak in a nursing home 

 

The Ministry of Health reports that an outbreak of Covid-19 has been reported in the Echedo socio-health center, in El Hierro, which affects 14 people, 11 residents and 3 workers, after a screening was carried out in the center with PCR tests. One of the affected residents has required hospital admission. This Thursday the corresponding protocol was activated and the sectorization and disinfection of the spaces has been carried out. These data will be incorporated into the statistical information of new cases tomorrow.
