The low-cost airline Iberia Express canceled this Thursday morning a flight between Lanzarote and Madrid, scheduled for 11:15 a.m., leaving passengers waiting until 5:00 p.m., when it finally informed of its cancellation. Company sources have indicated that the aircraft that was going to make the Iberia 1502 flight to the Spanish capital suffered a technical problem. As La Voz learned, it was a problem in the door of the plane's hold.
In statements to this medium, Iberia Express has assured that "when this casuistry occurs, sometimes it is difficult to foresee the resolution time and the information can be offered as certainties are obtained", in response to user complaints about the lack of information regarding the delay and subsequent cancellation of the flight.
Thus, the airline has added that this past Thursday it was decided to disembark the flight "as soon as it was known that the maintenance work would be prolonged." The disembarkation, according to their data, was done around 12:00 hours, 45 minutes after the scheduled departure of the plane. In addition, these same sources have assured that "the handling agent's staff at Lanzarote Airport was always attending to customers." They also defended that they were offered "information" and a food voucher for lunch.
When the flight was canceled at 5:00 p.m., Iberia defends that "accommodation was offered to customers who needed it" and "to everyone, the possibility of changing or refunding their ticket." However, one of the affected passengers assures La Voz that, despite the airline telling him to wait for their call, they have not yet contacted him and he has had to cancel the reservations and plans he had planned in Madrid.
