This year marks 20 years since Arenas School began implementing the Quality Management System and AENOR certified it according to the ISO 9001 standard. Together with Arenas Atlántico School and Arenas Internacional School, they are the first Schools in the Canary Islands to obtain this certification, and 20 years later they are still the only educational centers in the Archipelago that have it.

To mark this anniversary, the Learning Resource Center of Arenas Internacional School in Lanzarote hosted the presentation of the ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental Management certifications this Wednesday, June 1. The event was attended by the director of AENOR in the Canary Islands, Javier Lantigua, the Managing Director of Arenas Internacional School, Jaime Rodríguez, the Center's Director, Delfina Rodríguez, the Deputy Director, José Paz, and the quality manager of the Schools, Orencio Martínez.

After the presentation of the event by Orencio Martínez, Delfina Rodríguez took the floor and gave a tour of the implementation of the Quality System at the School and told some anecdotes about the first steps of the certification process in which she was involved. Delfina also spoke about the most relevant milestones that have been carried out at the School in these 20 years, such as the implementation of International Programs, among others, and future projects such as the creation of STEAM classrooms, among many others.

Subsequently, a representation of students from 2nd and 4th grade of Primary, and 1st year of ESO, explained to those present the latest inquiries and projects on several of the Sustainable Development Goals in which they have worked. Likewise, a 1st year Baccalaureate student from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program shared with those present the research carried out on the School's "carbon footprint" and spoke about the new subject "Environmental Systems and Societies", launched during this course.

Next, the certificates were presented and Javier Lantigua took the floor, stating that the certification granted by AENOR "validates the high level of quality in the management of educational processes and performance indicators, allowing the achievement of the expected results in accordance with the quality policy and the strategic direction of the organization."

The event was closed by Jaime Rodríguez, Managing Director of Arenas Internacional School, who encouraged the students not to lose the illusion of training, saying that "training is not something that is only subscribed to the School but should accompany them throughout their lives."
