The latest data from the Ministry of Health raises the number of coronavirus cases detected in the Canary Islands since the beginning of this health crisis to 90, although seven of them have already been discharged. The new figure provided this Saturday represents an increase of 20 new cases compared to the previous day, when the total accumulated was 70 cases and 63 of them active.

In addition, the first death on the islands was recorded this Friday, an 81-year-old woman with previous pathologies who was admitted to a hospital in Gran Canaria. Thus, the total number of active cases is 82, although the Canary Islands continues to be among the autonomous communities with the fewest registered cases.

In total, in Spain 1,519 new cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours, with the accumulated number already at 5,753. The majority of them are concentrated in Madrid, with 2,940, of which 86 have died.

Tenerife concentrates 63 of the 90 cases

As for the Canary Islands, the worst situation is in Tenerife, which has already had 63 cases, of which five discharges must be deducted, making 58 active cases. In Gran Canaria there have been 17 - of which one has died - in Lanzarote and La Palma three, in La Gomera another three, although two have already been discharged, and in Fuerteventura one.
