The Titerroy neighborhood association has publicly denounced what it claims has become a "habitual practice": parking on the sidewalks of the neighborhood. "On multiple occasions, this neighborhood group has informed the Arrecife City Council that many uncivic people use the sidewalks to park their vehicles," it states in a statement, in which it affirms that one of the most affected streets is Calle el Bartolo, near the Titerroy Health Center.
Regarding this street, it recalls that it is "very busy, especially by elderly people, who have to walk on the road" when improperly parked cars prevent them from passing.
"The Police Councilor has been aware of this for months and to date has done nothing to seek a prompt solution, since parking on the sidewalk of Calle el Bartolo is becoming the norm," the association maintains.
In addition, it emphasizes that this situation also affects residents with mobility problems, "who have to go with their wheelchairs on the road because there are cars parked and they cannot pass, due to the uncivic people who park on the sidewalk."
"The residents cannot believe that the Arrecife City Council, aware of the problem for months, has not sought a prompt solution, with financial penalties," denounces the group, which recalls that this practice "limits accessibility, generates risks for road safety, and affects the environmental quality and the design of public spaces."
