Two people from Lanzarote are participating in the 10th edition of the Panda Raid, a long-distance and endurance solidarity race, held annually in March, where more than three hundred teams with their old Pandas decide to have an adventure and selflessly collaborate with the most disadvantaged in Morocco.
The team, "Solidaridad conejera", is made up of Juan Ramos Rosales and Eduard Joel Betancort Camacho. "We have joined together to face the challenge of reaching the wonderful imperial city of Marrakech representing Lanzarote with our Seat Marbella 4 x 2 and thus be able to fulfill our dream of representing our archipelago in a different and supportive way."
"We are two young people from Lanzarote attracted by the spirit of adventure, the sporting values, and above all the human values that this race proposes, we have set to work to prepare the team and be able to participate in the tenth edition of the Panda Raid", point out the members of the conejero team. "We are united by a passion for the world of sports, motors and adventure, and also a great friendship, essential in this type of challenge." They wear number 127 out of a total of 400 cars for this edition.
The Lanzarote Security, Emergency, Rescue, Prevention and Fire Extinction Consortium supports the tenth edition of the Panda Raid race, a test that has 350 teams. The entity helps in the participation of a Seat Marbella that is driven by two people from Lanzarote, one of them a worker of the Consortium.
What is the Panda Raid?
According to the organization, its definition is a "solidarity and adventure amateur rally". It takes place in Morocco through a 6-stage route, which in some cases tests the physical and mental capacities of the teams, supreme values of a mechanical and comrades' effort that aims to leave behind, at least for a few days, the bustle of civilization and dependence on technology. "The important thing is not time or speed; overcoming Panda Raid implies above all solidarity and adventure to the finish line", they add from the organization.
