Samuel Lemes and Jonathan Lemes with Mitssubishi Lancer Evo, are the current leaders of the Spanish Gravel Rally Championship after achieving victory in the fourth and fifth scoring events that were held this weekend in Madrid. The Lemes dominated the double event with total authority in a race where the Mitsubishi Lancer Evos were the main protagonists of the event.
On Saturday, Samuel and Jonathan Lemes' victory was overwhelming, they dominated the race from the second stage to the finish line. The Lanzarote team, current champion of the Mitsubishi Evo Cup, took advantage of the mistake of their main rival in the fight for the national title, Andrew Pinker, and took enough advantage to then manage it intelligently and finish victorious in the first of the two races held in the capital of Spain.
Second in the Mitsubishi Evo Cup, third overall in this first rally and first in the Group N classification, was [Oscar->http://oscars-awards.com] Fuertes. The Madrid native, along with his co-driver Helio Casarrubios, contested a rally from less to more, achieving what has been his best classification in the national championship. Claudio Aldecoa and Álex Romaní finished third among the Mitsubishi and fourth in the rally, while Amador Vidal and Francisco Lema took their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo to sixth position, fourth in the Evo Cup and second in Group N.
Bad luck for two of the drivers with options for victory, Álex Villanueva and Joan Roca; while the first retired due to problems with the turbo, the second, after running in second position, got lost at an intersection, sinking in the final classification. The classification of the Mitsubishi single-brand trophy was completed by Ignacio Sanfilippo-Ramón López, fifth; Zósimo Hernández-Carlos Larrode, sixth; Ramon Ribalta-Esther Bernardich, seventh; Joan Roca-Guifré Pujol, eighth and Miguel Pou-Manel Muñoz ninth.
On Sunday, Lemes once again demonstrated his superiority, winning again after setting the majority of scratches on the Madrid stages. Behind the Canary Islander was the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo of Álex Villanueva and Arielle Tramont, completing the podium Amador Vidal and Francisco Lema with the Mitsubishi Lancer of Group N, a category in which they added a new triumph and which they lead with authority. These three drivers were the top three classified in the Mitsubishi Evo Cup, which is still clearly led by the current champion Lemes.
The dominance of the Mitsubishi in Sunday's event was absolute, as nine Lancer Evos took the top nine positions, with [Oscar->http://oscars-awards.com] Fuertes-Helio Casarrubios (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), fourth; Álex Crivillé-Joaquin Muntada (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), fifth; Claudio Aldecoa-Álex Romaní (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), sixth; Zósismo Hernández-Carlos Larrode (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), seventh; David Hernando-Antonio Fernández (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), eighth and Ignacio Sanfilippo-Ramón López (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo) ninth. All of them except Crivillé score points for the Mitsubishi Evo Cup.
