Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" faced their third game in 10 days, receiving Maristas de La Coruña at the Tías Municipal Pavilion. The Lanzarote team arrived with their morale boosted after the important victory on Friday against GDKO Ibaizabal and knowing that the objective of remaining in the national category is possible. The victory against the Galicians allows Magec Tías to leave the relegation zone of the Women's League 2.
The match was very even at the beginning, highlighting the outside shooting of both teams. The Herculina team was the one who knew how to better manage the shots over time, achieving an advantage that reached 8 points. However, the statistics were very similar for both teams, with a score that closed in the first quarter with a result of 16 to 22.
The Lanzarote team managed to play face to face with the Galicians, becoming strong in rebounding and strengthening their defense. Jesús García's players managed to turn the score around thanks to these two premises, which led the visiting team to have to call a time-out to readjust. The strength that Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" was showing in the inside game was repelled with attacks that ended with three-point shots and that kept the Galicians in the game, due to their success. At halftime, the local team had come back, finishing with a score of 39 to 38.
In the third quarter, the Lanzarote team ended up defining the match, despite the fact that Romina Rodríguez was able to participate little due to the accumulation of fouls. Yaiza García, Carolina Mateo and Eli Dabou emerged as the true offensive revulsives of the local team without the Galicians being able to offer resistance. Meanwhile, in defense, the islanders were more solid than the peninsular attack, managing to make them only score two points in the first five minutes of the quarter.
Once again, Esther Muñiz was forced to call a time-out to look for solutions and encourage her players in the search for a change. Although there was some improvement on the part of the visitors, who managed to score 6 points in this third quarter, the locals had managed to put land in between on the scoreboard, closing the quarter with a result of 54 to 44, reaching up to 11 points of advantage.
In the last quarter it was a want and can't on the part of the Maristas Coruña players, while the locals were even firmer. The difference on the scoreboard was extended to 19 points, which led the Lanzarote team to an excessive state of relaxation and a lot of nervousness when they saw that the Galicians were beginning to get closer on the scoreboard. Jesús García, as his teammate had done on the other bench when the situation was not good, called a time-out to calm his players and encourage them, asking them for long possessions so that they could sentence and add the third consecutive victory.
This is what the players of Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" did, who ended the match winning by 71 to 61. This victory, apart from being the third in a row after having won on the Almería court and last Friday against Ibaizabal, also means that the island team leaves the relegation places. Now the rojinegras players will begin to prepare for a new double day where they will visit the Malaga team of Unicaja and those of Alhaurín de la Torre, a match that was postponed in its day.
