The headquarters of the Orvecame car dealership hosted this Thursday the official presentation of a new edition of the Famara Total trail race, two days before its celebration, this Saturday, August 21, which will have a total of 600 runners in its 3 modalities.
The departures will be staggered, as explained by the host of the presentation and speaker of the race, José Antonio de Pablo "Depa". The first will be at 7 in the morning (40 km), the 15 km at 8 o'clock and the 7.5 km runners at 9 o'clock.
"The Famara Total returns this year with a very special edition, organized by the Teguise City Council with the collaboration of the Lanzarote company Cabrera Medina, as well as Turismo Lanzarote and European Sport Destination, and it will do so with high-level participants," they point out from the Consistory. Some of these athletes wanted to share their personal experience this Thursday, such as Aitor Navarro -two-time winner of the Vertical and one year of the 15 km race- who, on this occasion, will be encouraged with the 40 kilometers.
“What makes Famara Total great are the runners, especially the locals”, added Depa, recalling the participation of the conejero Olympian in other editions, José Carlos Hernández, and this time counting on one of his most outstanding students, Lucho González, a runner who is inspired by the Canarian Olympians “to continue learning from the athletic world, where they teach you to run, but also a lot on a personal level”. “In addition, every year we have the luxury of having many good runners from outside, such as Cristofer Clemente from La Gomera, world trail runner-up”, commented Depa.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, gave “thanks to all those who have made it easy to carry out a test in such a difficult time and expressed his wish that all the participants enjoy Teguise, Famara, and repeat next year", in which they hope that this test "will continue to grow with institutional support and with the sponsorship of private entities that are always there”.
“The end of the race, developed by Cronoline Canarias, is scheduled for 3 in the afternoon at the finish line located on the Caleta de Famara pier, although this time, due to health restrictions, you will not be able to enjoy the end of the party in the arrival area, although you can encourage the runners in the final stretch, which will have an exceptional caletera, Bárbara Reyes, who will be the broom runner who will support and encourage the last participants”, detailed the Councilor for Sports, Gerardo Rodríguez.
