On Saturday, Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" played against CB Unicaja Málaga in the Women's League 2, falling to the Andalusian team by 58 to 76 after a match where the Lanzarote team paid dearly for their mistakes.
Jesús García's players started very strongly, surprising their rival, who soon found themselves behind on the scoreboard, with a lead of up to 5 points for the locals, showing themselves to be very solid in defense, preventing easy baskets from the Malaga team. Even so, in the last stages of the quarter, Unicaja managed to tie at 18, leaving the match as it started, in a tie.
In the second quarter, the visiting team began to put pressure on the ball output of Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" and that gave the locals many problems, added to the scoring success from the perimeter of the Malaga team, which was gradually increasing the difference on the scoreboard. Inside the paint, there were very intense duels between the locals Carolina Mateo or Yaiza García and the Lanzarote player of the visiting team Verónica Matoso, which gave even more interest to the match. At halftime, the scoreboard reflected a result of 32 to 47 favorable to the players of Jesús Lázaro, coach of the Andalusian team.
After returning to the court, the situation did not change. Again, the visiting team defended with great intensity and again took great advantage of the Lanzarote errors. The locals found it very difficult to score, while the Andalusians left no possibility for a comeback. Jesús García stopped the match to look for solutions and, although they had a small reaction, again the rivals managed to carry the weight of the match to close the quarter 47 to 65.
In the last quarter, Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" reacted and began to cut points. The difference, which reached up to 22 points, was gradually reduced to 8, which made the fans present at the Tías Municipal Pavilion try to carry their team on their shoulders. But they were running out of time and had to take more risks, taking advantage of the visiting team to recover the lost difference and close the match with a score of 58 to 76.
Although the islanders gave everything on the court, a new defeat fell again, and they are already thinking about the next match, traveling to Córdoba next weekend to face Milán Córdoba Women's Basketball.
