In the 21st century, gays, lesbians, transsexuals, and bisexuals still have to fight against the barbarity of homophobia, in a time when freedom is supposed to reign, but it is not so because we continue to be massacred, insulted by the extreme right that wants to check our rights, and what produces the most fear and insecurity is that this discourse is being bought by a part of Spanish society.
Many ask, "What more rights do they want?" Well, neither more nor less than not feeling afraid of being attacked, questioned, mocked, or bombarded with questions full of absurd topics more typical of the cheesy humor of Pajares and Esteso when we are in a couple and they ask us, "Who is the man in the relationship?".
It seems that these are issues that should already be normalized in our society, but they are not yet.
Homophobia has stolen many things from my generation: moments, security, confidence in ourselves, and what I will never recover, time. The time I wasted being afraid of the bullies in the playground, the time I wasted fearing rejection when I felt different... etc.
To think that those times are resurging again and without control.
But just as my generation did, those who were before me and those who are yet to come, we will FIGHT and not only will we come out of the closet, we will take a hammer and make firewood out of it.
We will do the same with homophobia as with the closet.
