The bond that exists between citizens and their pets is very important and teaches us to relate to nature, and to take responsibility for other living beings: seeing a girl fill her puppy's drinking fountain with water is an action that goes beyond play and fun, it is an act of generosity. Today, among the assets that classify a community as a quality place for life and enjoyment of citizens, also includes the possibilities that neighbors have to develop their free time with their pets.
In this context is when we take a look at Arrecife and see the enormous shortcomings that our city also has in this matter. Only one dog park, and in deplorable conditions. That is why it is essential that new recreation areas appear, where dogs have fun with their owners, and that they have their rest areas, benches with shaded areas, drinking fountains, places where neighbors also connect, and community is made.
The coast of Arrecife has to have a place for our puppies, where they can swim and enjoy. In this sense, I have to say that the entire coastline of our city is almost completely unused. That is why enabling coastal areas for dogs is a fundamental part of recovering our city and giving life to our marina.
That is why this humble councilor brought a motion to the plenary session of our city council to: fix the dog recreation area that already exists; create new dog parks; and enable a dog beach.
Having a city that is friendly to our pets is a way to better enjoy our city and a way to be a little happier within it.
