The Yaiza City Council has concluded the bidding process to install a climbing wall with an exterior monolith in the Parque del Mediterráneo in Playa Blanca, with the signing of the contract with the awarded company. According to the mayor, Óscar Noda, the objective is to “promote sports climbing responding to a demand from young people in the municipality.”

The new installation will occupy an area of 140 square meters, taking advantage of the space in the Parque del Mediterráneo and its location in the central area of the town of Playa Blanca, a park where young people also practice indoor soccer and basketball.

The Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, maintains that “the climbing wall is a new investment commitment from Yaiza that completes larger-scale works", such as the Playa Blanca Sports Hall. "Sports climbing is not a majority sport, but it is gaining more and more practitioners every day and we want to make up for the lack of space that prevents its expansion because whatever the discipline, we are interested in promoting free time in healthy activities,” the councilor points out.
