The President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has pledged to try to resolve the situation of instability of temporary employees in this legislature: "This Government is willing to solve everything that can be solved. This is a problem of decades and we will work to resolve it in this legislature."

This was stated in response to a question about the situation of public employees in abuse of temporary employment formulated by the spokesperson of the Mixed Group, Vidina Espino, who lamented that the Government of the Canary Islands "fills its mouth" talking about public employees while keeping them in a situation of "job instability." "If legislative changes need to be made, do not give more excuses to make the relevant changes," she demanded.

In his speech, the president admitted that it is a "worrying issue" and assured that the Canary Islands Government "will continue to sit down to find a solution to a difficult problem that requires state regulations." He also reiterated that the Executive's will is "to be able to reach agreements to be able to solve them."

He recalled that Minister Iceta has said that anyone cannot be made an official without further ado. Therefore, Ángel Víctor Torres believes that "we must respect what the Constitution says" and, together with this, negotiate processes that can be restricted so that the result "is something that cannot be challenged."

Regarding the cancellation of the signing of the agreement with the representatives of temporary employees, he said that "when the last agreement requires maximum security, which is a legal report, we also do it to those who sign the document on the other side, because there is nothing worse than giving a frustrated hope."
