New protest by public temporary workers in Arrecife

Again, another second Sunday of the month, more than 35 car caravans were launched throughout Spain to demand that the Government "apply European labor law as in the rest of the countries" and sanction with permanence the abuse of temporality committed with temporary workers of public administrations

In the case of Lanzarote, about 13 vehicles participated in the protest, which departed from the Arrecife Fairgrounds to tour the city.

This is the sixth mobilization that the Platform of Temporary Public Workers in Fraud of Law has held since November and joins many more that have been carried out since February 15, 2020. However, they affirm after this that they not only have "the more than evident confirmation of the lack of political and trade union will to solve this unfair and dramatic problem of hundreds of thousands of families", but that "lies and bad faith" have been installed in the work of politicians and trade union organizations.

Protest of temporary public workers in fraud of law

"It is not enough for them to abuse us and our contracts with impunity for decades, but now they intend, with a panorama that already recognizes abuse at all levels, to adopt annihilating measures that are totally contrary to law, to our rights," they point out.

And, they point out that "wherever any autonomous community has proposed a solution measure" that ensures their interests, correctly applying European jurisprudence, "governments and unions have rushed to try to squander it", citing the Canary Islands among other places. "And throughout the territory, selective processes continue inexplicably, despite their invalidity emphasized by the Court of Justice of the European Union, and without even carrying out an inspection to exclude the positions of people in abuse," they add from the Platform of Temporary Public Workers in Fraud of Law.

Likewise, they affirm that "not satisfied with this", they are adopting illegal measures with the sole purpose of erasing any temporary position in abuse from the map, such as offering only the positions of interim workers in fraud in transfer competitions...".

After the publication of the measures that the Government has sent to Brussels, it is clear that its solution to reduce temporality involves exterminating temporary public workers with stabilization processes that will send hundreds of thousands of them to unemployment", they point out, noting that this is "totally contrary" to the ultimate purpose of the European directive to protect and compensate these workers from abuse.

"Harassment and demolition towards us is a fait accompli, only because of our condition. It could be said that it borders on hate crime, since it directly attacks our figure. And for this, they have launched a campaign of lies to the media that has no limits," they add.

In this regard, they affirm that it is "a lie" that it is a very complex problem, that it is impossible to grant permanence because it is unconstitutional, that the problem of temporality will be solved with the public employment offers, that the solution cannot be given at the regional level and must be done at the national level, and that the solution has to be agreed with unions and social agents, among other issues. "When it comes to complying with the laws, no agreement is valid. They are simply complied with", they point out.

They announce that they will go on strike and file "massive" lawsuits

Therefore, we immediately demand an inspection to detect all those affected by abuse of temporality, as well as the exclusion of their positions from any selective process, keeping them paralyzed until a solution is determined in accordance with community law for their permanence or stability. "Solution that can be given by the application by local and regional authorities of measures that serve to comply with the directive and its effects, while the government of Spain discusses and approves stabilization/permanence policies that prevent this abuse from happening again in the future," they specify.

Likewise, they demand that "not one more dismissal occur without first inspecting the situation of abuse of all temporary public workers".

In addition, by virtue of the "declaration of war" by the Government and majority unions, the Platform of Temporary Public Workers in Fraud of Law has decided to increase its actions. "We are going to file massive individual lawsuits, challenge all selective processes, sue those responsible for our illegal hiring and denounce this abuse and rebellion of the Spanish Government before Europe," they affirm, announcing that they will also go "on strike".

Finally, they request "for the umpteenth time" an urgent meeting with the Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Function, Miquel Iceta, "to offer him the only solution in accordance with Europe and the Law", which would be his "stabilization in employment".
