The Tinajo City Council has begun the remodeling works of the El Cuchillo Sociocultural Center through the Department of Public Works. The total investment will be 334,799 euros, coming from the 2020 Municipal Cooperation Plan that the Consistory maintains every year with the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

"The delay in the start of the works is due to the fact that the Government approved a decree for all projects, including those contracted, to review prices," said the mayor, Jesús Machín.

Now, he says that "in about 6 months, the residents of El Cuchillo and the rest of the municipality will be able to enjoy its completely renovated facilities." "It is a point where meetings and all kinds of events take place and it is important that from the Consistory we do our best to ensure that its facilities are in an optimal state," he added.

The awarded company will have a period of five months to complete the modernization and renovation of its facilities, where the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Pilar were recently held.

"From the Consistory we apologize to the neighbors to whom we may cause inconvenience during the course of the work. Sociocultural centers are very important and therefore we must put all the necessary means so that their facilities are up to the standard that our neighbors deserve," said the Councilor for Public Works, Luis Miguel Pérez.
