MANY ARE LOOKING FOR ALTERNATIVES TO ENJOY THESE LANDSCAPES

The strike in the Tourist Centers, which this Thursday has completed its tenth day, is leaving disparate images throughout the island. While tourist vehicles continue to approach the centers daily to try to access without success, some are looking for alternatives to try to enjoy those landscapes.

One of the examples is being experienced in Timanfaya, where the camel drivers claim that they have "doubled" the services they usually provide on these dates. And it is that given the impossibility of entering Montañas del Fuego, many decide to settle at least for the traditional camel ride.

More worrying is the situation in the vicinity of the Mirador del Río, where many people are seen walking through areas prohibited to pass. Despite the prohibition signs, and given the impossibility of accessing the center, the tourists who come there do not want to leave without contemplating the views of the Chinijo Archipelago. And in some cases, they do so by approaching the edge of the cliff.

Meanwhile, the common image in the rest of the centers is that of groups of striking workers concentrated at the entrance, in some cases with chairs and beach umbrellas, and that of tourists who arrive there and have to turn around. The only exception is the Farmer's Monument, where at least they can access the outdoor areas.

Piscina Jameos

Regarding the interior of the Centers, the Strike Committee has released this Thursday a photograph of Jameos del Agua, where the deterioration that the pool would be suffering due to the days of closure and lack of maintenance can be seen. On this same day, the company's management and the workers' representatives have sat down at a mediation meeting before the Canary Labor Court to try to end the conflict.

The mediation of this body was requested by the Minister of Tourism, Echedey Eugenio, although the Committee has already stated that the proposal that may come from the Court is not binding. The meeting began at 12 noon and at 5 p.m. it had not yet concluded.
