The Teguise City Council and the General Directorate of Coasts have reached an agreement, through which the San Juan campsite will finally be opened, in Caleta de Famara, during Holy Week. However, access to wheeled vehicles will be prohibited, with the exception of caravans or motorhomes. "So that this space does not become a track, vehicles must be outside the public domain."
This was stated by the PSOE senator Marcos Hernández, who indicated that an area will be enabled for camping in San Juan. "It will be perfectly signposted where both the cabins and caravans should be installed," he said.
In this way, the City Council has finally managed to allow camping in this area, [affected by the Coasts Law.->37565] The problem is that Coasts marked the demarcation last May, and this now does affect this beach.
Campers will be able to enjoy this activity in San Juan, specifically, in the entrance area to the beach, as well as in the right part of the sand, "which is the largest there is". Hernández has assured that officials from Costas and the Teguise City Council will meet on Monday to delimit the place. "The cabins, for example, will have priority to be further ahead, so that the caravans do not block the view of the sea," he said.
In addition, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has also attended this meeting with Costas to talk about camping in this municipality. In this sense, Marcos Hernández has assured that this activity can be practiced in the Isleta de La Santa, where "an immense camping area will be enabled above the road".
Likewise, Costas will also allow camping in Las Malvas, although vehicles will not be able to access the beach area. "People camp outside the public domain because Costas has nothing to do with it there," he indicated.
