The councilor of the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, Antonio Morales, has denounced that the municipality has been suffering from "deficiencies" in the garbage collection "since August." "It has happened that it has not been collected for up to four days," said the councilor, who has criticized the "negligence" of the mayor.
"Tinajo has a company that is dedicated to doing this service but, from what we understand because we do not have the documentation, the contract was fulfilled, and it has continued to provide the service, it must be due to some contract that they made temporarily while the City Council tenders the new specifications. And it is curious that the same mayor who has been in office for 18 years has not noticed and planned to make the specifications before the contract ends. It is a gross error," he said.
Morales made this complaint after this Monday he showed his discomfort on social networks because the containers were overflowing with garbage. And, he says that it was not collected until "eleven o'clock at night." "But this has been happening in Tinajo since August, that every now and then the garbage is not collected," insisted the councilor of the Renovating Movement, who stated that they already asked the mayor then and that he said that "in October" the new specifications would be drawn up.
"He even told us that he was going to consult with the opposition to make the best or most complete specifications possible so that these things do not happen, but neither one thing nor the other has been done and this is already the last straw," Antonio Morales pointed out.
"The City Council has legal tools to act"
"What we are saying is that if the service is deficient, measures must be taken, because the law protects it. Take the measures now, because the residents pay the taxes, we fulfill our obligations, but the City Council, and in this case the mayor, is not doing it. And when this happens and they don't tell you the truth and it seems like there is some secrecy, it bothers you and makes you angry," added Morales.
The councilor of the Renovating Movement of Tinajo has stated that the situation affects the entire municipality, although he has placed special emphasis on its effects in La Santa because there are "many restaurants" and because of "the tourism" it receives. "And then he boasts that there is a hotel there that is the best we have in Europe, but we have to provide the services in a serious and forceful way. And the City Council and the mayor have responsibility there," he stated.
"When a public service does not work, the City Council has legal tools to act, and even more so when it has happened on several occasions and the contract has already been fulfilled," insisted Antonio Morales, who also pointed out that, given that "the mayor has said on several occasions" in the media that "Tinajo is one of the most compliant municipalities in payments," he hopes that the City Council "does not have much debt with this company or with another." "In any case, the company also has regulations to stop providing service if it is not paid," he indicated.
