The councilors of the Socialist Party in the Cabildo want the plenary session of the Corporation, which will be held on the last Friday of this month, to approve the precautionary suspension of several partial plans on the island, following the line already marked with the suspension agreed almost two months ago for the Playa Blanca Partial Plan.
The technicians of the PIO office are working on the corresponding report, which is not yet finalized, and it will be clear from there in how many and in which partial plans this precautionary measure will be adopted, as explained to La Voz by the general secretary of the PSOE in Lanzarote and vice president of the Cabildo, Manuel Fajardo. Therefore, it is not yet determined which partial plans would be affected by this decision.
As in the case already approved for Playa Blanca, the suspension for the granting of licenses would be for one year, and its purpose would be to avoid an avalanche of licenses during the delayed processing of the Special Territorial Plan. In fact, Fajardo believes that if it is agreed to suspend the granting of licenses in more partial plans, "the material and legal effects would be identical to those of the provisional approval of the PTE."
The vice president of the Cabildo said that he hopes to have the support of the other government partners, "because it would be an incongruity and an irresponsibility not to do what the technicians suggest," while clarifying that the presentation of that motion "will not mean that we resign ourselves to the PTE not being approved this Legislature, since we continue to believe that it should be approved as soon as possible."
