The PSOE of Teguise brings to the extraordinary plenary session, which will take place this Thursday, three economic issues "of maximum interest". The socialist formation has announced in a press release that the "abandonment" of the gardens, "the lack" of budgets and the situation "of the skeleton of shame" will be debated.
The socialist spokesman, Marcos Bergaz, has stated that the current mayor, Oswaldo Betancort (CC) "leaves pending" these three issues in his "farewell" to the Teguise City Council. At this point, he stressed that despite the initiatives of the socialist group and the 14 years of government of the Canarian Coalition, these issues have remained unresolved.
With this initiative, the socialists seek to put an end to "the abandonment suffered by the municipal gardens as a result of their own decisions and the passivity shown in recent years." In addition, he pointed out that this point arises from "a progressive deterioration of the green areas that neither the municipality nor the residents nor the businessmen who convey their complaints deserve", said Marcos Bergaz, socialist spokesman.
"The inaction of the government", Bergaz argues, "has been part of the problem for not having awarded the new service of maintenance, conservation and improvement of green areas, despite the fact that the current concessionaire has been without a contract for more than a year, in a situation of administrative precariousness and 'forced' to continue in the provision of the service".
"In addition, when they could improve their condition, they chose not to invest 350,000 euros from a subsidy from the Cabildo de Lanzarote for the gardens of Costa Teguise, by allocating it - after not executing it in three years - to the paving of streets", laments Bergaz.
Without Budgets 2023
Another of the issues that will be addressed will be the absence of Budgets for 2023 in Teguise that "unlike the Cabildo and other municipalities, are still not initially approved, despite constituting a fundamental tool that would allow the institutional machinery to be put in place and not depend on an 'expired' budget like last year's, extended", says Bergaz.
"Two months before the elections, we reiterate our offer to minimally agree on the accounts and give them the go-ahead, in a new exercise of responsibility, by whoever wants to be mayor and government if the citizens give us the majority confidence on May 28", says Bergaz.
"We say 'minimum agreement', which will allow the new government to start the mandate with budgetary normality and items for plans such as the special plan for La Villa or the modernization of Costa Teguise, the necessary embellishment of the whole of towns and payments, etc.", adds the spokesman.
Skeleton of shame
Finally, the socialist group has stated in a note that the mayor has been "forced" by the socialist request for an extraordinary plenary session to incorporate his appearance on the agenda. "After eight months and their respective plenary sessions, the mayor refused to appear to explain the situation of the skeleton of shame", the political formation pointed out.
In this sense, the PSOE hopes that this appearance will serve for the mayor to clarify "why after 12 years in office there is still an urban skeleton standing in the heart of Costa Teguise, where dozens of people live badly every day", says Bergaz.
Finally, the PSOE invites citizens to follow the plenary session that will take place this Thursday, March 30 at the Convent of Santo Domingo from 12 noon, and that can be viewed through the link teguise.es.
