Given the delay of almost a year in various works at the CEIP Public School in Playa Honda, the Socialist Group of the San Bartolomé City Council will ask the Mayor to expand the members participating in the Informative Commission of Urban Planning, Public Works and Public Services, approved in the Plenary Session of February 3, dedicated to the expansion works of various classrooms of the aforementioned school, and also include representatives of the APA Sabor Guacimeta and the School Council. According to the socialists, with this initiative they intend to "seek a dignified solution among all to a problem whose delay is affecting the school community due to the neglect and lack of concern shown by the Government Group, especially the Mayor and the Delegate Councilor for Education".
The PSOE also urges the mayor to convene said Commission immediately "and comply with a mandate from the Plenary Session that was held four months ago, because the situation of paralysis and neglect when it comes to addressing the needs of students and the educational community is intolerable".
According to the spokesperson for the Socialist Party in the San Bartolomé City Council, Andrés Stinga, "it is inconceivable that the construction of six classrooms in the C.E.I.P. of Playa Honda began in July of last year and today the work is still unfinished". Members of the School Council and representatives of parents have met with the PSOE in the face of the impotence generated by making repeated requests to the City Council and the Delegate Councilor without obtaining answers. "It is inadmissible that a work so necessary for the population of the town remains paralyzed by the neglect, inability or who knows what, to which the mayor has accustomed us," adds Stinga.
The Sabor Guacimeta Parents' Association of the Playa Honda School, through a letter dated May 25, addressed to all the spokespersons of the political forces with representation in the San Bartolomé City Council, once again expressed its concern since "the completion of the construction works of six new classrooms in the CEIP of Playa Honda should have been a reality for some time now", and that "having addressed that City Council on several occasions denouncing such a situation", what they have received have been "promises that have always been unfulfilled". The PSOE fears that "if things continue along the same path, the next school year will begin and everything will continue the same, without the Government Group caring in the slightest".
On the other hand, after the approval of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands for the execution of a school canteen in Playa Honda, and being aware of the demand that exists in the aforementioned population center, the councilors of the Socialist Group state that they do not understand that there is still no intention of doing the work. "•It has no explanation that after three years of Legislature and the mayor preaching in his electoral campaign the commitment to carry out the dining room immediately, to this day it has not been done, nor are there any indications that it will be done," comments the socialist councilor.
The PSC of San Bartolomé also denounces that, according to a group of individuals and members of the school board of C.E.I.P. of Playa Honda, for some time a group of young people has been invading the Educational Center on weekends, causing numerous damages and destruction to its facilities. Therefore, it considers that the Government Group should take the appropriate measures to guarantee the security of the Center.
