The plenary session has unanimously approved denying the license to the Ministry of the Interior. According to the socialists, their vote is based on technical reports, which maintain that it cannot be built on that land because it is "protected rustic land.

The plenary session of the San Bartolomé City Council will deny the urban planning license to the Ministry of the Interior for the construction of the Immigrant Internment Center on the Polvorín land, which is state property. The Government Group has assured that it will not grant the license as it is located in an area declared "protected rustic land". The PSOE has announced that they will support this provision "since there are some negative technical reports that support the decision made. Furthermore, if the technicians say that it cannot be built and the neighbors are not allowed to, it doesn't seem logical to me that the Ministry is allowed to", Andrés Stinga stated for La Voz.

The councilor for the Socialist Party in San Bartolomé, in addition to surprisingly supporting the measure adopted by the Consistory, despite the fact that the initiative to build the Center comes from his own party at the national level, has argued his decision stating that as a councilor and as a public official "I cannot vote against a technical report".

However, the socialists have not supported the municipal proposal to create an Institutional Declaration regarding the construction of this Internment Center. "I am not going to vote for something that I do not know because to this day no writing or declaration has reached us," explains Stinga. "I understand that with the negative report and the reasons that the law provides to deny the construction, everything else is superfluous, and even an institutional letter".

Ajei Referendum

In addition, the plenary session also took note of the result of the referendum held last Sunday, September 24, in which the residents said NO to the Government Group's proposal to change the name of the municipality, adding the toponym "Ajei".

Although for the Socialist Party, the data is not important, since they have had it since the night of the referendum celebration. "We have included in the section of requests and questions how much the referendum campaign has cost the San Bartolomé City Council," said Andrés Stinga, despite the fact that it was the socialists themselves who proposed to the Government Group that they transfer their proposal to change the name of the municipality to a popular consultation.

Two million euros

The council plenary session has also debated the implementation of a credit operation that was already planned in the municipal budget for 2006. The loan to be requested amounts to two million euros, although this decision may be declared an "act void by full right", since the socialists consider that to approve it, an absolute majority with nine votes is needed. "They have tried to push it forward with a simple majority, but it violates the law, so we will declare it an act void by full right".
