The PSOE of Arrecife denounces that the Islas Canarias park is unfinished and that kiosks and a restaurant are missing

The socialists of Arrecife have denounced that the Islas Canarias park "is unfinished". In view of the report of the execution project of the area, which the PSOE showed this Thursday in a press conference, the construction company "has ignored" the installation of several press and beverage kiosks, a fountain, a small restaurant and a tourist information point, as well as the replanting of the trees.

As the document literally states, "the proposal for the new park will generate a variety of uses and spaces that will reactivate the environment of the Islas Canarias park." It also refers to the "placement of small buildings dedicated to leisure such as restaurants, kiosks, a tourist information point, which will generate activity around them."

This was indicated by the local secretary of the capital's PSOE, José Montelongo, who appeared before the media to detail the actions carried out by his party in relation to this matter. In his opinion, the park, far from being an attractive public space for residents and visitors, "is rather a passing area riddled with potholes and damage."

As he revealed, the municipal group has registered a request to the mayor to commission the Technical Office to check the degree of execution of the park's work, in order to detect other possible breaches. The PSOE has also requested information on where the existing trees went before the start of the works.

According to Montelongo, the department is already working on the report requested by the PSOE on the damage located in the area and the possibility that it should be closed totally or partially.

"A death trap"

Montelongo finally demanded the installation of the new pontoons, to replace those removed before the summer "due to their enormous deterioration." "It is curious that the only elements that citizens really enjoyed in the Islas Canarias have not been urgently replaced," said the socialist councilor.

On the other hand, the socialists have denounced that some of the emergency exits of the parking lot under the park are closed with padlocks, so in the event of an accident, "the underground could become a death trap."
