The Public Prosecutor's Office has this Monday requested the provisional dismissal of the case opened against the candidate of the Canarian Coalition for the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and nine other people for the so-called Corredor case. According to the newspaper La Provincia, the prosecutor's brief has been presented to the Investigating Court number 1 of La Laguna, in which the case was being followed for alleged crimes of prevarication, embezzlement of public funds, influence peddling and document forgery against those charged in this case.
Clavijo was charged last November 2014 by Judge César Romero Pamparacuatro for alleged crimes of influence peddling, prevarication, falsification of official documents and embezzlement of public funds. Subsequently, the judge dismissed some of the charges and rejected other new ones requested by the Prosecutor's Office, which has now just requested the complete dismissal of the charges against Clavijo and the rest of the people related to these events.
The mayor of La Laguna, two councillors, the former deputy commissioner of the Local Police, a trusted official of CC and nine municipal technicians were charged in three separate cases of the Corredor case, which in 2012 already led to the arrest of 18 people, including the lawyer Evaristo González, for his business with leisure premises in the municipality.
