The popular councilors of the Tías City Council have filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office regarding what they consider to be "a new real estate scam by the mayor." Specifically, they have denounced "the granting of a building permit in violation of urban planning regulations, in violation of the General Plan, using an agreement that was signed in 2006 with the company Ganigo S.L., six or eight months after the Plan was signed."
"The mayor, without having incorporated that agreement into the General Plan, grants a building permit to a company for the construction of parking spaces and commercial premises," said councilman José Pablo Lemes, at a press conference in which he was accompanied by the spokesperson and president of the Local Committee of the PP, José Francisco Hernández, and the councilors Saray Rodríguez and Ramón Meliá.
"The most serious thing about this matter," according to the populars, "is that it seems that the General Plan in Tías is applied to some and not to others, to whom all kinds of favors and perks are applied, as already happened in its day with the square that is located above the casino and now, on the avenue of Tías, specifically on Calle Libertad.".
For that reason, they affirm that they have decided to go to the Prosecutor's Office "to report, again, facts that constitute crimes committed by the mayor and by some councilors who are part of the Local Government Board".
"He has eliminated green areas"
The councilors affirm that there is a report from the municipal architect, dated February 11, 2009, "that accounts for the fact that, indeed, a parking permit has been granted in the subsoil, despite having a negative report for non-compliance with the General Plan".
The councilors of the Popular Party of Tías assured that they have known these data for "practically six months", waiting all this time to make the facts known to the Prosecutor's Office "to study the matter carefully and make the corresponding legal consultations". They continue accusing the mayor of having allowed the occupation of "the space of a children's park that was located precisely on that plot and now it turns out that the work has been paralyzed for six months for reasons that we do not know and the children have been left without their space".
But the children are not the only ones affected by the granting of this license, since the populars add that "with this agreement, in addition, the green areas and free spaces that were planned for that area have been eliminated".
The sport of the "real estate scam"
"We believe that these facts are especially serious, seeming that the mayor wants to make the sport of the real estate scam fashionable and is being added to the multiple facts that we have denounced previously. What is happening in Tías is not normal and that is why we have gone to the Prosecutor's Office," say the populars.
They also announce, in turn, that in the Plenary to be held in the afternoon of January 26 in the City Council, "65 objections will be reported, negative notes that have been issued by both the secretary and the auditor, in different municipal procedures where the non-compliance with the Law is evidenced, some very serious, with characteristics of crime".
"Authentic barbarities are being committed in matters of urban planning in the municipality of Tías and in matters of contracting, skipping the Law of contracts day after day," they sentence.
