The Popular Party of Tías has denounced what they consider "a careless and uninspired management of the Christmas holidays by the government team of PSOE and Podemos". The popular have harshly criticized the "scarce Christmas lighting, a cultural program that they describe as poor and unattractive, and the decision to hold the Cavalcade of Kings of La Tiñosa in the morning, again ignoring the needs of the families of the municipality."

“This Christmas program lacks content and that magic that should characterize such special holidays. The residents of Tías deserve much more, especially in a municipality that houses the main tourist area of the island. It is unacceptable that the municipal government treats these dates with so little planning, ideas and enthusiasm”, declared Francisco Aparicio, leader of the PP of Tías.

Insufficient and uncreative Christmas lighting

The PP has stressed that the Christmas lighting "leaves much to be desired", with main streets, towns, and even the entrances and exits of Puerto del Carmen "in total decorative abandonment. There is not even an ornament in some points. Years ago, residents of other municipalities came to Tías to enjoy the holidays. Now it is the residents of Tías who go to other municipalities in search of a decent Christmas atmosphere", they pointed out from the Popular Party.

A cultural program without illusion or ambition

For the popular, the Christmas cultural program is “made reluctantly, without ideas and without content”. According to Aparicio, "the lack of planning and enthusiasm" that characterizes this program is "a reflection of the bad mandate of the current government. A municipality like Tías cannot afford a Christmas program that goes by on tiptoe and is unable to attract even its own residents", he stressed.

Despite the fact that this year the Cavalcade of Kings falls on a Sunday and families will have more facilities to attend, the PP of Tías has criticized that the government team "continues to insist on doing it in the morning, a decision that for years has generated discomfort among residents."

“It is true that this year Sunday facilitates attendance, but this does not solve a problem that the municipal government has ignored throughout its mandate. Instead of valuing a more inclusive schedule and dialogue with residents to address their preferences, the PSOE and Podemos have chosen to maintain an inflexible position that has often harmed working families in the municipality”, said Aparicio.

The PP of Tías has demanded that the City Council "improve its management for future events, planning them in time and really committing to culture and tradition. The residents and merchants of the municipality, as well as the tourists who visit it, deserve holidays that are up to the municipality."
