Papagayo campsite will open its doors this Thursday

The Papagayo campsite will open its doors this Thursday, according to reports from the Yaiza City Council. In this way, from 10 a.m., those campers who wish to spend their holidays in the southern facilities, may go to the campsite offices, located at the entrance door to it, to complete their registration and inscription.

Prices do not undergo modifications with respect to previous years. Thus, it will be 7 euros for the large plot, which is used for caravans, motorhomes and large tents, and 4 euros for the small plot, where small tents and igloos can be installed. The campsite has a capacity of 310 plots, 250 large and 60 small.

The Papagayo campsite will remain open until September 11.

There are still debts from 2009 and 2010

The mayoress, Gladys Acuña, highlights "the enormous effort" that the opening of this infrastructure means for the coffers of the southern Corporation, since "the rent of the generator set corresponding to the years 2009 and 2010 is still owed, and the payment to the cleaning and maintenance companies during the same period, which amounts to approximately 46,927 euros, which must be paid by this institution."

The mayoress of the Yaiza City Council assures that the municipal government group will work "conscientiously and exhaustively" to find "as many solutions as necessary so that the opening of the Papagayo campsite does not entail any expense for the City Council or for the residents of Yaiza" in the future. "We are absolutely clear that this institution cannot bear, alone, the expense involved in opening this infrastructure."
