The manager of the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism (CACTs) of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, José Juan Lorenzo, the commercial and marketing director, José Manuel Carbó, and the director of the South zone, José María Peña, have been dismissed during the morning of this Thursday, May 8, without the reasons for the dismissal having been revealed so far.
The rest of the management team hired by the Tourist Centers under the mandate of the previous counselor continues in the department: Francisco Ortega, economic and financial director; Isabel Betancort, Quality auditor; and María del Carmen Fernández, director of the North Zone.
The manager was selected by Edey Consultores, a personnel selection company hired by the Tourist Centers, of which he was a finalist. Lorenzo took office in January 2005.
On August 1, 2006, the Board of Directors of the CACTs approved the appointment of the five directors, after completing the selection process by a specialized company. The approval was ratified with the votes against the opposition, the Works Council and the absence of the PIL.
After this vote, two graduates in Economic and Business Sciences, María Isabel Betancort and Francisco Ortega, responsible for Control and Auditing and economic and financial director, respectively, took office. José Manuel Carbó Fernández, senior technician in Hotel Administration, was appointed commercial and marketing director; while José María Peña Monzón, tourism technician, and María del Carmen Fernández Ramos, interim worker of the CACTs, held the positions of Zone directors.
