The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Island Water Council, will execute a channeling, defense and lamination work on the Temisas ravine, in Haría, for an amount of 173,750.92 euros, in order to restore the optimal hydraulic operation that the area had.

The Island Water Councilor, Andrés Stinga, states that the works will increase the capacity of the ravine, thus resolving "the deterioration of the area caused by the abandonment of agricultural activity that used to be part of the place."

“Currently, the irregular course of the ravine hinders the flow of runoff, due to excessive vegetation and the existence of collapsed walls and other elements that hinder the proper functioning of the channel,” explains the councilor.

Specifically, the works contemplate the restoration of a section of the Temisas ravine located above the population center of Tabayesco, “with the main objective of preventing floods in the adjacent areas and reducing the dragging of solids that occurs along the channel.”

In this sense, the works project a floor in the bed of the channel that will serve as a base for the execution of a rectangular concrete channel and masonry walls, as well as access steps to the adjacent farms and several weirs that will allow the regulation and lamination of the flow, as detailed by Stinga.

The actions of the project, awarded to the company Terra Civil SL, began this Wednesday, January 13 and will have an execution period of three months.
