The Ministry of Education and Universities of the Government of the Canary Islands has negotiated with the union representatives its Public Employment Offer (OPE) for 2018, "which will allow the call for 2,041 places and reduce the interim rate of the specialties that are convened up to 11.5 percent." The Deputy Minister of Education and Universities, David Pérez-Dionis, took the proposal to the sectoral table this Thursday.
"The significant reduction of the interim rate in the educational centers of the Archipelago, which in some very specific specialties had exceeded 30 percent, is possible due to the sum of 1,154 places for the stabilization of the staff, to the 887 that are estimated to be replaced by retirements at the end of 2017, in the OPE of next year," they point out from the regional Executive. In this way, the Ministry will convene 2,041 places for the end of June, for specialties of Secondary, Vocational Training and Official Language Schools.
David Pérez-Dionis explained in a press conference after the celebration of the sectoral table that "this Public Employment Offer is historic to the extent that it is the one that offers the largest number of places in recent years, based on the needs of stabilization of our staff and the reduction of the interim rates that were located at 30 percent and that may now be located at 11.5% in all the specialties that are going to be convened." "This is an opportunity for everyone, both for professionals who already work in the public teaching system, and for those who want to access it," he concluded.
