Ironman Lanzarote has been chosen by the Canary Islands Tourism Council to receive one of the medals for tourism excellence in 2013. The Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente Armas, chaired the council this Thursday, which was held in Gran Canaria.
Ironman Lanzarote has been chosen in the first category of business activities, developed in the tourism sector of accommodation, restaurants, intermediation, leisure, information or promotion. "This is a high-level sporting event in which athletes from many parts of the world compete, which also represents a decisive promotion for the Canary Islands tourist destination," they highlighted at this meeting.
In the category of professional activities carried out in institutions, establishments or companies, the winners are Enrique and Katherina Moelm, owners of restaurants in the north of Tenerife. And in the third category, the Playitas Resorts tourist complex has been designated.
Facilitating the 112 service to tourists
In addition to the medals for tourism excellence, the general director of Security and Emergencies, Juan Manuel Santana, has presented the initiatives that will be launched to facilitate tourists' access to emergency services coordinated by the CECOES 1-1-2 Room and also to disseminate among tour operators and hotel and non-hotel establishments some videos with self-protection advice in case of adverse weather phenomena.
