"An obscure stage is over, a stage where being a friend was paramount is over, and the fact that only a privileged group could work with the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers is over." This was announced this Tuesday by the CEO of the CACT, Benjamín Perdomo, the call for 36 public tenders with which the entity hopes to save about 2.5 million euros per year. Of these tenders, 26 will be convened "imminently", while in another 10 they are "finalizing the specifications".

"Once and for all, the hiring of friends is over in the Tourist Centers, the hiring of friends is over, and from now on everyone will be able to aspire in equal conditions to work with the largest public company in Lanzarote. Without favoritism, without friendships and without membership card," Perdomo insisted.

In a press conference to announce the measures being taken in the CACT, the councilor stressed that "it has not been easy to get all these specifications out in the health situation we are in." "There is no public administration in Lanzarote, there is no administration in all of the Canary Islands, that is going to put out to public tender and that has drafted 36 administrative specifications in two and a half months. None," he emphasized, stressing the savings that this will mean for public coffers.

The 26 "imminent"

The 26 tenders already prepared to be published include six framework agreements with temporary employment companies, travel agencies, alcoholic beverages and the supply of food products, printed material and conservation and maintenance products, with which the entity claims it will save 2,145,000 euros.

In addition, there will be twelve service contracts - in areas such as prevention of occupational hazards, surveillance and security, advice, internal audits, rental of sound and lighting equipment for events, cleaning of kitchens and external laundry - which will mean a saving of 200,000 euros.

To these are added the tenders for another eight supply contracts (coffee, infusions and others, cleaning consumables for the CACT, bottled water in glass and water dispensers, chemical products, generating sets, eco-efficient buses, fuel and management platform) that will generate savings of 115,000 euros. "In total," says Perdomo, "these 26 specifications will mean a saving of 2,460,000 euros for the Centers."

The 10 that are being "finalized"

The Centers are also finalizing the specifications for another ten tenders, which are those for the replacement works of the tubes of geysers 4 and 7 of Montañas del Fuego; of the electricity supply; of the mobile and fixed telephone service; of vehicle repair; of execution of the Training Plan; of cash collection; of the service of musicians who perform at the events of the Centers; of the actuarial calculation of retirement bonuses; of the banking services of current account, company card and POS commission and of the technological equipment and technological services associated with the new Casa de los Volcanes, with which it hopes to have savings of 85,000 euros.

"In total, the 36 specifications that the Centers will tender in the coming weeks represent a saving of 2,545,000 euros per year on the money they have been paying for the provision of these services in recent years," the CACT emphasize. "We want to show the great managers that it is possible to manage this Entity complying with the contracting procedures and taking care of public money," concluded Perdomo, thus launching a message to the previous team of Pedro San Ginés.
