The Plenary of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved this Friday the Organic Regulations by which the Island Environmental Evaluation Body of Lanzarote and La Graciosa is created and regulated, under the provisions of Law 4/2017, of July 13, on Land and Protected Natural Spaces of the Canary Islands.

In the words of the president Oswaldo Betancort, “this new regulation guarantees an adequate prevention of possible environmental impacts that could be generated both in Lanzarote and on the island of La Graciosa, with the aim of improving the protection of our environment and promoting sustainability in decision-making”.

“Thanks to the approval of this regulation, we will be able to articulate, from now on, all those measures aimed at improving the protection of our environmental environment and continue betting on sustainability in Lanzarote and La Graciosa”, adds Oswaldo Betancort.

For his part, the Councilor for Territorial Planning and Territorial Policy, Jesús Machín, explains that “until now Lanzarote and La Graciosa did not have such an important environmental instrument as this Evaluation Body, which has been approved in record time, thanks to the work of the technicians of the Territorial Policy Area”.

This new body, which will guarantee an adequate prevention of possible environmental impacts that may be generated, will have an administrative and collegiate nature and will be composed of people who respond to criteria of autonomy, specialization and professionalism. Its decisions on environmental issues will be made collectively.
