The Bureau of the Congress of Deputies decided this Monday to dissolve the Coalition Canaria-Nueva Canarias Group, with the five votes of the PSOE, CIU and Izquierda Unida and the opposition of the Popular Party. Likewise, it was decided to postpone until next Friday the 29th the deadline for submitting amendments to the draft reform of the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands, as requested by Coalición Canaria and the Popular Party.
Regarding the dissolution of the CC-NC Group, parliamentary sources indicated that the Popular Party had requested a postponement of the issue until September, although this objective has not finally been achieved. "It is an unprecedented situation", "there are hardly any precedents for a similar situation", lamented from Coalición Canaria shortly before the dissolution of the group was consummated.
Concern in the Mixed Group
For their part, the deputies of the Mixed Group, which will now be joined by the Canarian nationalists, have expressed in recent hours their discomfort at having to welcome two deputies from Coalición Canaria and another from Nueva Canarias in the final stretch of the legislature after the decision taken by the latter, Román Rodríguez, to undo the group he shared with Coalición Canaria in Congress.
In this sense, they have been in favor of the President of Congress, Manuel Marín, arbitrating some type of solution to extend the intervention times corresponding to the Mixed Group, in the debates that remain until the end of the legislature.
Another measure that could be adopted would be the creation of 'subgroups' that facilitate the provision of material resources to the deputies to carry out their work, since they are expected to increase their numbers by 50 percent from tomorrow, from 6 to 9 members.
The Mixed Group was initially created with 5 deputies -2 from the Bloque Nacionalista Galego, Chunta Aragonesista, Eusko Alkartasuna and Nafarroa Bai- although two months ago Joaquín Calomarde, a PP deputy for Valencia, joined them in disagreement with the party's policy.
