The Arrecife City Council will collect and process the documentation of all those people who demand protected housing, whether public or private and both for sale and for rent, and will include them in the Registry.

The new responsibility will become effective after the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Canary Islands Housing Institute of the Autonomous Government and the capital Consistory, with the aim of bringing this service closer to the population of the island. Until now, applications could only be made at the offices that the Canary Islands Executive has open for this purpose on José Antonio de Arrecife street.

The meeting held on Monday morning between the Minister of Culture, Sports, Social Policies and Housing of the Government of

Canary Islands, Inés Rojas, the mayor of Arrecife and several councilors linked to these areas, has also confirmed "the good progress" of the process of rehabilitation of the homes included in the

ARUS of Valterra and Titerroy.

"At this time we are awaiting the award of the works. The item is withheld and available, but it remains to be verified whether the amounts corresponding to Fomento are maintained in the state budget. After my meeting with the Minister of Development, I am optimistic," said Rojas.

He also recalled that of the 44 officially subsidized homes built on León y Castillo street, more than half have already been sold, at a price lower than the market price and with facilities for obtaining loans. "I take this opportunity to remember that there are still apartments available, of 70 square meters, with a garage and storage room and at a very interesting price, intended for people whose annual income does not exceed 18,000 euros," he clarified.

Young Housing Exchange

The mayor of Arrecife, Manuel Fajardo, highlighted other very beneficial tools for the youngest population of the municipality, such as the Young Housing Exchange, to which 2,500 people have joined or the Young Mortgage, "a very advantageous financial product and especially in the current circumstances, in which it is not easy to obtain loans."

The working table was attended by the mayor and the minister, the

General Director of Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jerónimo Fregel,

the deputy mayors José Montelongo and Blanca Blancas and the

municipal heads of Social Services, Housing, Sports and

Culture, Ascensión Toledo, Rafael Juan González, Paca Toledo and Eva de

Anta.
