The Department of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote wants to solve one of the most common problems during the rainy season, and that affect the LZ-1 road: the continuous floods on this road, specifically as it passes through the town of Tahíche.

Thus, the Corporation has put out to public tender the works for the installation of pipes and the drainage of rainwater at kilometer points 3+450.00 and 3+700.00 of the LZ-1. “With these works, we will avoid the continuous puddles that occur on this section of the road during the rainy season and that put the safety of drivers at risk,” says the Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina.

“Over the years, the filtering wells that exist on this road have stopped fulfilling their function, reducing their capacity practically in its entirety, so from the Cabildo we are going to intervene in this area to provide a definitive solution,” explains Medina.

The works, which have an approximate execution period of one month, will involve an investment, from the Cabildo's own funds, that is around 100,000 euros.

With the execution of this new intervention on one of the island's busiest roads, we will try to give fluidity to the drainage of rainwater, thus guaranteeing greater safety for road users and reducing possible risks, achieving a "much safer and more comfortable" road.

Companies interested in this bidding procedure can access the documentation on the State Procurement Platform until August 26.
