Ramón Ortiz, who a month ago announced that he was leaving Nueva Canarias and that he would resign as party councilor in Tinajo, has already made his resignation from the position of councilor of the municipality effective. Likewise, Ortiz has announced that he has reached an agreement to run in the next elections with Lanzarote Avanza, an alliance formed by UpY, PIL and the Socialist Group for Lanzarote.
According to Ortiz, it was last Friday when he registered his resignation from the position in the Tinajo Town Hall, as well as his resignation from Nueva Canarias. Along with him, according to what he has stated, "a couple of colleagues" will also resign from the party these days, who will also join Lanzarote Avanza.
"We have already reached an agreement, it is already agreed, and we are going to represent Lanzarote Avanza in the next legislature, God willing," said the until now councilor of Tinajo, who nevertheless pointed out that it is still to be defined who will be the candidate for mayor.
"At the moment we do not know who the candidate is, nor who will head the list nor who will be number two," said Ramón Ortiz, who nevertheless has shown himself willing to be the candidate for mayor. "Both my colleagues and I are willing, but we are still working," said Ortiz, who pointed out that, in fact, they still do not know under what formula they will compete with Lanzarote Avanza, that is, whether they should join any of the parties or not.
"I know that the colleagues from Tías had very advanced conversations"
It should be remembered that Ramón Ortiz made public his decision to leave Nueva Canarias a few days after the party announced an electoral alliance with Somos Lanzarote and that, together with him, the councilors of Tías, Mame Fernández and Érica Machín, also announced that they were leaving the party, who have already resigned from their positions as well.
After that, Mame Fernández confirmed that he was negotiating "with two parties" to be the head of the list for the Tías Town Hall in the next elections, without denying that one of the options was Lanzarote Avanza. "I know that the colleagues from Tías were in conversations, that they had them very advanced, but I don't know anything else," said Ramón Ortiz, who said he did not know if the former NC councilors in Tías have also closed an agreement with Lanzarote Avanza.
