The Tourism Department of the Tías City Council has launched a promotional campaign in recent weeks to publicize "the other great attractions that Lanzarote has, in addition to sun and beaches." This campaign is focused on those thousands of tourists who daily travel along the Avenida de las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, from El Varadero, in La Tiñosa, to Matagorda. A route of about 6 kilometers in which the Tías City Council has deployed 40 panels (exhibitors) to publicize the complementary offer that a tourist can enjoy in the municipality and throughout the Island of Lanzarote.
The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, accompanied by the deputy mayor and councilor for Tourism and Culture, Mame Fernández, and the councilor for Projects, Dynamization and New Technologies, Nerea Santana, announced this Wednesday, in an event that took place next to the Puerto del Carmen Tourist Office, this line of promotion, the characteristics of the panels and the elements of innovation and promotion that they incorporate.
During the presentation, Mame Fernández highlighted that through the images of these 40 posters, placed in preferred places throughout the Avenida de las Playas, it is intended that other sectors linked to tourism benefit from the promotion and allow generating more value and spending capacity among tourists. The posters show Canarian gastronomy, trails, cultural facilities, commerce, leisure, the annual program of events of the Tías City Council and the practice of scuba diving, among other elements.
One of the unique features of these information panels is the display of QR codes, which can be used with software for mobile phones. This allows tourists to connect to the Puerto del Carmen website (www.puertodelcarmen.com), where they will find gastronomic routes, sports and leisure proposals, and even the cultural and event program organized throughout the year by the Tías City Council.
New Tourist Information Points and Accessibility Plan
For his part, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, announced that the remodeling works of the Puerto del Carmen tourist information office will soon begin with an investment of 50,000 euros, through the Island Investment Plan of the Cabildo. The Tourism Area of Tías intends to increase the tourist information points throughout the Avenida de las Playas and, according to what they have announced, the City Council "is already working on a plan to install at least two new points directly attended by tourist information officers."
Another of the actions that will be undertaken shortly, according to the mayor, will allow the large beach of Puerto del Carmen to be more accessible with an investment of approximately 300,000 euros. In addition, during the event, the new vehicle of the Tourism Area of Tías was also presented, which incorporates the new renovated image of Puerto del Carmen on its exterior.
