From the Local Committee of Nueva Canarias in Haría, they propose to recover “el Bosquecillo”, which they consider a symbol of the north of Lanzarote and which they assure is in “a state of abandonment”.

“Not only are the accesses in poor condition, with dangerous sections, but also the state of ruin of the playground, which is falling to pieces, as well as tables, benches or barbecues. Everything in terrible condition, as are the paths that lead to the balconies”, says the NC spokesperson in Haría, Marcos Lemes.

In addition, the Canaristas note “the lack of care in the plant environment”, which they say could lead to “new hunting grounds for accidental or provoked fires, such as the one that occurred in August 2019.”

“All this is a consequence of the different rains that have fallen, but also of the lack of interest of the PMH and CC government group in repairing and improving public spaces”, they point out from Nueva Canarias.

Lemes points to CC and PMH for “absolute neglect” in the search for solutions to these and other historical problems in Haría. “The neglect is reflected in practically all the trails in the municipality, which are bare and in an impassable state for the numerous local and foreign hikers who want to enjoy the north”, they note from the Canarian organization.

NC proposes a series of “urgent” measures:

From Nueva Canarias they propose a series of “urgent” measures for the recovery of “el bosquecillo”. One of them is to “plan and carry out effective projects for the maintenance and preservation of the environment and recreation areas of the municipality”.

Another of the measures is to “force all competent bodies to collaborate in lasting stability in all ecological areas”. In addition, they propose creating, for example, “a recovery zone for native flora and fauna, and fight against invasive species, both plant and animal.”

“The Island-Home that they intend to implement for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and all its municipalities, is nourished by the capacity to conserve and protect its natural spaces, generating a balance between human and nature”, they add from Nueva Canarias.

“The north of Lanzarote has an enviable natural spatiality that we must promote. The 'Bosquecillo' is an island symbol that we must care for and protect”, says Marcos Lemes.
