The until now councilor of Lanzarote en Pie - Sí Podemos in the City Council of San Bartolomé, Maite Gorriz, has attributed her resignation to "personal reasons". "My resignation has nothing to do with Leti Padilla and Ramíro Muñoz leaving Podemos", she has published through Facebook, in response to the news advanced this Thursday by La Voz de Lanzarote.
Although it was this Friday when it was taken to the Plenary, in reality the councilor presented her letter of resignation almost two months ago, but it had not transpired until now. In addition, after the news became known, she did not want to make statements, although she did leave this comment on La Voz's Facebook page.
"I am leaving the position for personal reasons. I will continue to support the future councilor of LEP- Sí Podemos as much as possible. These have been two years of work and very interesting proposals that do not seem to have attracted the attention of the press as much as my resignation, I repeat for personal reasons and not for political disagreements," she argues in that brief response.
It so happens that Gorriz registered her resignation from the position just the same day that the councilor of Arrecife Leticia Padilla announced her departure from Podemos, on February 10, and the day after the councilor of the party in Yaiza, Ramiro Muñoz, did so. However, as La Voz recalled this Thursday, in the case of those two councilors, what they have abandoned is the party, but not their positions in their respective Consistories.
Now, although she has refused to make statements, Maite Gorriz has wanted to publicly clarify that her decision, despite the coincidence of dates, is not linked to that of her former colleagues. Along with her, the next three on the list have also presented their "early resignation", informing the City Council that they will not take office. Thus, the one who will join as the new councilor of San Bartolomé is the one who was fifth on the list, Antonio Ruiz Gutiérrez.
