The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, and the island councilor of Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, visited the different works that the First Institution is executing to renovate the traffic light network of Arrecife.
Both were able to see firsthand the status of these actions, which the Cabildo points out include the installation of some 200 new traffic lights, distributed among 17 areas of the capital of Lanzarote. The objective of these is to improve the safety conditions, conservation and appearance of the city.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, appreciated the progress of these works, which began in May, and the good appearance of some of the streets in which the installation has been completed.
“We know for a fact that these actions are highly demanded by the citizens and are essential to improve the transit of vehicles and, above all, the safety of these and pedestrians”, Corujo stressed.
“After years of neglect, we have once again taken charge of fundamental actions for the safety of the residents of the capital”, the president stressed.
For his part, the councilor of Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, explained that streets such as Manolo Millares already have the new devices and “the area has seen how the flow of traffic and the safety of everyone has improved”.
“With these works, we contribute to improving these aspects, in addition to achieving an improvement in the energy efficiency of the traffic light network system of the capital, also ensuring the sustainability and care of the environment on the island”, the councilor detailed.
The Island Council points out that it awarded these actions for 1.53 million euros to the company Etra Bonal S.A., which has one year to complete the works. These aim to replace traffic lights, along with their columns, booms and corresponding accessories, the replacement of the cabinets that contain the traffic light control panels, and the replacement of the existing conduits for the low voltage network of the traffic light sets, among other improvements for circulation and for the energy efficiency of this system.
