The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, accompanied by the island councilor for Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, visited this Thursday the training of the women's handball team Cicar Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife.
Dolores Corujo stated the "pride it represents for the Island to have a team of this level, which has demonstrated its worth in the Women's Silver Honor Division and is in a position to reach the highest category of women's handball" and expressed her satisfaction that the club can "enjoy the first-class facilities that the Titerroy Pavilion now has".
"We have made a large investment to provide the infrastructures with more seats, a new pavement and improvements in terms of security, among other actions, with the aim that our teams have the best possible environment to train and play their matches", the president highlighted.
For his part, the Minister of Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, also celebrated the final result of these works and conveyed to the team his congratulations for the great season, finishing second in their league and with possibilities of reaching and recovering their place in the Guerreras Iberdrola League, and the best of luck for the Promotion Phase, as well as for the coming year.
Promotion phase to the Guerreras Iberdrola League
This Friday, Cicar Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife will host the Promotion Phase to the Guerreras Iberdrola League, the highest category of Spanish women's handball.
The president and the councilor were present at the previous training session to wish 'the panthers' good luck and show their support in this decisive stage of the season.
Cicar Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife will debut this Friday at 8:00 p.m., against Gurpea Beti Onak. On Saturday, May 21, at the same time, they will face Grafometal La Rioja. On Sunday, they will close the Promotion Phase, measuring themselves at 12:30 p.m., against Vino Doña Berenguela Balonmano Bolaños.
"I want to thank the club for the gesture they have had with the institution with the delivery of these club shirts during the visit. I wish them the best of luck in the matches of this Promotion Phase, in which I am sure they will achieve their objectives and return to the Guerreras Iberdrola League, the category they undoubtedly deserve. This weekend, we are all panthers", Mendoza concluded.
