Arrecife premieres its first calisthenics park to promote outdoor physical activity

The facilities are located in the Charco de San Ginés and the City Council plans to install others in the Parque Temático and in the Parque Deportivo de Las Salinas

Arrecife premiered this Thursday the first calisthenics park on the César Manrique promenade, in the Charco de San Ginés. The facilities, executed with municipal funding, are part of the plan that the City Council has underway to provide the island's capital with parks and outdoor facilities that allow citizens to practice physical activity.

The mayoress of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, presented the facilities next to the Ribera del Charco de San Ginés. In the act, the first mayor was accompanied by the councilor of Transport, Mobility and Children's Parks, Ángela Hernández; the councilor of Public Works, Roberto Herbón, and the councilor of Urbanism, Security and Emergencies, and Internal Regime, Eduardo Placeres Reyes. This park, destined for the practice of outdoor physical exercises, is located near the Multicines Atlántida building, and has a continuous rubber pavement floor, to avoid damage and falls to users.

Ástrid Pérez advanced that this park is the first of a series that the City Council will open in the coming months. In this regard, she detailed that from the Department of Sports, under the coordination of the councilor Roy González, the assembly of a calisthenics in the Sports Park of the neighborhood of Las Salinas is being finalized, and that the new facilities contemplated for the leisure area of the Parque Temático, near the beach of El Reducto, also foresee a calisthenics park.

The calisthenics training park next to the Charco de San Ginés promenade has an explanatory panel with the different exercises and tables that users can develop for physical sports activity.

This park includes a set of bars with a trellis, normal and freestyle pull-up bars, a monkey bar, a set of high and low parallel bars and bars for push-ups, in stainless steel. The materials used are "state-of-the-art" according to the City Council, to guarantee their duration and use, especially due to their proximity to the sea. In addition, it has been equipped with technical pavement for the protection of possible falls of athletes, with continuous rubber flooring.

As explained by the Consistory, the Calistenia Street Workout parks, as they are known, are fixed outdoor attractions and games intended for leisure and the practice of physical exercises using one's own body weight. In these parks you can perform exercises from static elements that help develop the strength and strength of the muscles. Its location has been designated as a place frequented by young people in their leisure time.
